The 2017 Fijian Tourism Expo is a very important event for Fiji.

Boasting the two-day event is the number of buyers from the US, China and the United Kingdom, who have arrived into the country.

The expo will see the gathering of about 100 exhibitors, 160 buyers from 21 countries and even 17 international media at the Sheraton Fiji Resort on Denarau on May 4-5.

This is the time when buyers and sellers of the Fiji products get together and pen the contracts for the following year.

Fijian Hotels and Tourism Association president  said: “It is very important that the Fijian sellers showcase what they have to offer and the buyers internationally also have the chance, coming from all over the world and the major markets to see what’s available.

“They will sign the contract so it’s very important event and mechanism to make sure that the supply of tourist to Fiji is maximised because various destinations provides visitors to Fiji.”

Fiji Package holiday

This year’s theme remains “Team Fiji” illustrating the aim of the Tourism industry to continue to work hand in hand with Government and stakeholders to ensure Fiji is the destination to travel to.

“A lot of them are online travel agents, wholesalers and these are the very important people. Fiji still very much a package holiday very few people actually come and go online and book their holidays and there are some, the majority that book their tickets online, the tours and they like to have a package holiday,” Mr Seeto said.

“This is all part of their process these buyers come and see what is available.

“This is something that you will give credit to Tourism Fiji for organising this event and it is getting better and better every day.

“They are very innovative because some of this visitors have never been to Fiji or even they have they want to come and see something new so tourism Fiji’s job is to make sure not only the traditional products are available. All the new products, the innovative products available now is available to this people who come, actually pack and sell holidays to people in their country.”

FTE success over the years

Over the two-day expo, the trade exhibition, which are booked with scheduled appointments for buyers, media and sellers, will also be enhanced by concurrent events showcasing products from the Fijian Made and Fijian Crafted Village, which has been an integral part of our expo since 2014.

These include authentic and quality artefacts made by registered artisans under the Fijian Crafted initiative.

“It’s been a success all this years and I have no doubt it will be again be a success. Even in the cause of tourism exchange, tourism Fiji do programmes in such a way to see what Fiji has to offer. Many wholesalers actually come and do familiarization,” Mr Seeto added.

“They actually go out and again this is where Tourism Fiji is being doing its job well making this available to people who want to do this. To look at people who would love to do this and see what Fiji has to offer.

The event will be officially opened by the President Jioji Konrote alongside Tourism Fiji chairman Andre Viljoen and Tourism Minister Faiyaz Koya.
