The Vodafone Fijian 7s coach Gareth Baber has named 14 players for the final leg of 2016/2017 World Sevens Series.

Four players, Josua Vakurinabuli, Samu Bale, Paula Dranisinukula and Glen Cakautini are likely to make their debut at the Paris,London tournaments

The new players are Vakurinabuli, Bale and Cakautini while the Dranisinukula was the 14th player during the Singapore 7s last month.

“We have all learnt a lot from each other and the three new players will have an opportunity to be exposed to the high intensity environment,”Baber said.

“Going into these last two tournaments I am confident  the team selected will play to the best of their ability and make everyone proud.

“This will be probably the youngest team we are taking to the series but we are building the team for next year and the future.

“I am quite excited to have those that are going to Paris and London with us as there are a lot of experience in the team and I’m always conscious and aware of the fact that there are some boys who will be wearing the white jersey for the first time and experienced players. I am allowing the boys to get the best opportunity in developing themselves quickly.

“It has been a tough season for all of us, but the boys know that it isn’t over until the referee blows the final whistle.”

Baber was disappointed some players couldn’t have made it to the final team.

“I am very disappointed but I believe the opportunity to wear the white jumper comes with sacrifice and quality of performance.  That is how I look out to have a high quality performance team and making sure all that standards are met.

“Injuries in the team continuous to progress well especially as Vatemo Ravouvou has recovered from his previous injury.”
