Vodafone Fijian 7s coach Gareth Baber is stressing discipline ahead of the final leg of the 2016-17 World Sevens Series in Paris and London.

The side departed yesterday with the aim to end the season on a high.

“I’m always stressing this issue to the boys as sevens rugby is hard enough,” Baber said.

“We like to give numerical advantage to the opposition and it was notable to see that in Hong Kong we performed well and won the tournament.

“But we need to ensure we keep seven players on the field all the time and play as much pressure on the opposition.”

He admitted competition would be tough on the last leg.

“Obviously when you go and perform as expected like we did in Hong Kong, we were able win,”he said.

Four new blood

Forwards Paula Dranisinukula and Josua Vakurinabuli are good hardworking and disciplined players.

“They are developing and learning in the last six weeks they have been with us,” he added.

Glen Cakautini and Samu Bale can play either as rover or win.

“They give an edge in terms of the ability to break the line and have the right demeanour.”
