Shop N Save complex, plus bringing business stakeholders together. All part of going ahead: CEO

The Nausori municipality can expect more developments and a booming town over the next two years.

Nausori Town Council CEO, Akhtar Ali, said there were development plans in progress that would give Nausori Town a new look.

“Shop N Save supermarket will be constructed on the old market site. And this is a $40 million project,” Mr Ali said.

“This eight-storey building will really change Nausori Town. It is a huge project. Right now we are focused on trying to demolish the old structure.

“Construction work is expected to begin this year. It will include shopping complexes, cinema, supermarket, car park and apartments’ right at the top.”

Nausori Town, he said, did not offer much for its people and he planned to change that by providing more entertainment facilities.

Mr Ali said the landowners of Nausori and the investors were still in the process of planning the Nausori bus station developments.

From Nakasi to Nausori, he added, there were increase in developments, especially Nakasi, which developed over the years, providing more to the public.

“We have developments everywhere when you reach Nakasi. There’s the new complex being developed in Nakasi, Supreme Fuel subdivision, Hexagon development. Nausori is developing,” Mr Ali said.

“We are also looking to acquire a 100-acre land in Manoco to develop a park.”

There’s a lot to be done here, he said, and it would require the business stakeholders and ratepayers to work together.

“This is my aim, to bring the business stakeholders together so that we can help each other develop the town, because it will benefit the businesses and the people as well.”

Mr Ali was the CEO of Nasinu Town Council before taking up the same position at the Nausori Town Council last month.
