New Biscuit Factory Soon

New biscuits, new markets from Veisari start: Bajekal.
New products will be manufactured at the new FMF biscuit factory in Veisari.
This was confirmed by FMF managing director Ram Bajekal during the corporate family’s pooja (prayer and blessing) ceremony yesterday.
“The kind of biscuits that we will be making here will be different from what is being made in Walu Bay,” Mr Bajekal said.
The exact date of the opening of the premises had not been decided yet as there is still work to be done.
“It is partially because of the wet weather that we have not been able to complete it. Most of the work inside the factory has already been completed but outside is still pending.
Until the weather clears up and becomes a lot more dry, we will not be able to complete it,” Mr Bajekal said.
He said about 125 people would be directly employed and maybe an equal number indirectly.
The $40 million factory consists of versatile machines that will allow the company to manufacture biscuits to countries there suitable profit can be made.
Mr Bajekal said the biscuits were primarily for the Melanesian markets, but through the new factory, the company was venturing into the Australian, New Zealand, Canadian, Japanese and American markets.
The factory will be used to manufacture biscuits only, predominantly crackers.
