‘Path To Market’ Seminar Set

There are more opportunities to increase trade development with Fiji and its New Zealand counterpart.

The Fiji Export Council in collaboration with the Pacific Islands Trade & Invest ‘Path to Market’ one day seminar will be held at the Best Western Hexagon Hotel in Nadi on May 18 and at the FCEF Boardroom (Suva) on May 19.

Fiji Export Council Business Development, Malcolm Ralisa said four companies would be selected for the‘Path to Market’ trade mission in Auckland (NZ) next year. “This 1 day seminar is part of the capacity building process to prepare the companies we will eventually select,” she said.

There will be three consultants from NZ to speak at the seminar. They are Michael Greenslade (PITI Trade Commissioner NZ), Ian Furlong (PITI Trade Development Manager) and Manuel Valdez (PITI COO & Head of Investments).

“This programme is suited to small business owners who are currently in business and who are thinking about entering the export market particularly to NZ. It is aimed at building capability to assist them start exporting or to enhance their current exporting activities,” Mr Ralisa added.

The Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Dr Ram Raju is urging stakeholders in Nadi to be part of the event.

“SME’s in the relevant industry should cease this opportunity and attend. The form has been sent to the members that needs to be filled and submitted if attending.”

The speakers will be presenting on the following topics:

  • What are the attributes of a successful export product?
  • What do you need to know about your customer?
  • Understanding the NZ market – size, consumers, and segments.
  • Understanding requirements for market access including optimising the supply chain.
  • How to understand product costing, setting the selling price and maximising profitability.
  • Tips on how to effectively sell your products.
  • How to select a buyer and manage the relationship.
  • Basics of business planning.
  • Information brief on the Pasifika trade Mission scheduled for 2018.
