A strong Yasawa side yesterday proved too strong for Ra winning 22-8 in their Vodafone Vanua Challenge match at Nadovu Park in Lautoka.

Yasawa outscored the men from Ra who have a lot of preparation needed before their next round challenge.

Yasawa, under the coaching of former dual international Kaiava Salusalu, outplayed Ra in all facets of play in a game riddled with mistakes and indecisions.

Yasawa led 17-3 at the breather with tries to winger Aminisitai Naikasau, hooker Inoke Momo and centre Manoa Murimurivalu with a conversion from fullback Varayame Momo.

Ra kicked a 40th minute penalty from fullback Buru Buruvanua.

After the break, replacement fullback for Yasawa Amenatave Nawaqa finished off a sleek backline move to go over untouched for his side to lead 22-3.

Ra’s occasional burst upfield paid dividends on one occasion when halfback Akuila Nadola touched down near the corner.

Yasawa manager Jonasa Bisasa said they were happy with the win and would improve on their game during training.

Ra manager Amena Bolaitamana Waqatabu said his players lacked fitness and this is what they would be working on before the match against Tavua next week.
