800 Plants Uprooted, Two Men Arrested: Police

Police officers arrested a 37-year-old man of Batinikama and a 36-year- old of Korovatu for allegedly cultivating marijuana plants
Two Labasa men are in custody after 800 plants believed to be marijuana were uprooted by Police in a raid earlier this week.
Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said the plants were sighted and uprooted on the hills of Savusavuitaqa outside Labasa Town on Thursday.
She said the men were arrested for allegedly cultivating marijuana.
“More than 800 plants ranging from one to 18 cm were uprooted in a raid on Thursday.
“Both suspects in custody to be produced on Monday (May 8) in court,” Ms Naisoro said.
She said the men were in their 30s and were alleged to have owned the farm that was raided.
“In Naduna, Labasa, upon information officers arrested a 37-year-old man of Batinikama and a 36-year-old of Korovatu for allegedly cultivating plants believed to be marijuana at the hills of Savusavuitaqa, Waiqele, Labasa,” Ms Naisoro said.
