Serua’s first five-eighth Mitieli Lotawa stole the show as Serua defeated Nasinu 20-7 in the second round of the Vodafone Vanua Championship at the Fiji National University ground in Valelevu yesterday.

Lotawa scored a try and converted two penalties as 13-men Serua came away with a win.

What Happened:  Emosi Lutunaika scored the opening try for Serua in the 8th minute converted by Mitieli Lotawa who also scored a try converted by Niko Corivuka.

Halftime: Serua 14-0 Nasinu.

The second half was a heated affair as three players were sin-binned. Nasinu’s Malakai Tobau and Serua’s  Serua’s Orisi Vitukawala and Tikiko Taukeinikoro were shown yellow cards.

Lotawa kicked two penalties while Nasinu’s points came from two penalty tries.

Star Turn: Mitieli Lotawa was the man of match as he scored a try and kicked two penalties and a conversion.

Comments: Serua Coach Ilimo Vudiniabola; “I am really happy with the performance.

“Despite the unfavourable weather condition they still managed to maintain possession and win which was very encouraging to see.

“We are now looking forward to improve from our mistakes and prepare for our third game which is against Tailevu at our home ground,” Vudiniabola said.

Nasinu coach Sailosi Naiqete; “The boys gave their best and I am really glad that despite losing they are improving their performance compared to the first round of the competition and I believe my boys will prove themselves in the next game.

In the other Vanua Championship matches, Rewa defeated Northern Bulls 24-5 while Tailevu and Bua drew 11-all.
