Saregama Events Show Grows With Youth Talents

The level of interest in participation has improved since the last SUR SANGHARSH.
From Season 3’s 12 participants, this season now has 20 youths aged 25 and below turned up to prove they have what it takes to make a singing career.
The show’s director and producer Nilesh Kumar said this season had singers who were very talented when compared to the past seasons.
“This simply means that now more people have started following up and taking interest in this event,” Mr Kumar said.
“In the past three seasons only 12 contestants were taken into the event, but due to the talents among those who came for the auditions, 15 were selected to participate into the main event. Those selected were either high school students, university students or some who are already in the workforce.”
This event was being organised by SAREGAMA Events Group whose objective is to promote young hidden musical talents in Fiji. It is strongly realised that there are tremendous hidden talents in the country especially among the youth, but there are limited opportunities and least is being done where such talents could be exploited.
SAREGAMA Events Group has taken initiative in setting up a platform targeting the young youths to come up and take advantage of this opportunity whereby they are provided with guidance prior to being presented to the public through the annual event SUR Sangharsh (Hunt for the Singing Sensation).
Initiatives
It could be said that upon first performance on stage, some of the youths have either joined local bands or have been approached to participate with other prominent orchestras in Fiji.
This year it aims to organise musical events of other genres such as Western, Pacific or iTaukei so other ethnic groups can also participate and benefit out of its events.
