A father of eight, Samuela Tubutubu, was a happy man on Monday when he received free school stationery from the Minister of Education, Heritage and Arts, Mahendra Reddy.

Mr Tubutubu was among many parents and students receiving stationery from the Minister at the Nadi Technical College on Monday.

The stationery will enable Mr Tubutubu of Nadi to send his youngest daughter, Clarabel, 10, to school.

Mr Tubutubu said: “I feel like I have been given new hope and the weight I have been carrying for a long time has gone.

“I feel happy and I just thank the Lord and the Government of the day for making it possible.”

Mr Tubutubu was finding it hard to send his youngest daughter to school because Clarabel cannot talk.

His 18-year-old son dropped out of school, but is working and helping the family financially.

Mr Tubutubu plans to take his daughter to the Nadi Centre for Special Education and his son to the Nadi Technical College.

“The Government for looking out for the people of Fiji. All I needed was some assistance during these hard times and I am so grateful,” he said.
