Oil Tanker Instructed To Leave Suva Port At Daylight

The oil tanker Chang Hang Xian Feng received instruction from the Fiji Ports Corporation Limited to leave the Kings Wharf at daylight on Monday after it completed unloading fuel midnight Sunday.

Spokesman of Campbell Shipping, the agents of the oil tanker, Anare Keni said the oil tanker could have left soon after unloading the fuel but was told to leave at daylight for safety reason because of the sunken vessel MV Southern Phoenix.

The oil tanker arrived at 4pm last Wednesday to discharge 12,503 metric tons of fuel. According to Mr Keni the vessel completed discharging oil midnight Sunday and had wanted to leave Suva Port but was advised to leave at daylight.

“The vessel had to leave at daylight for safety reason,” he said.
