Nadi To Rest Injured Skipper

Jack’s Nadi rugby skipper Samu Saqiwa and robust fullback Nemani Driu will miss out in the crucial Skipper Cup clash against Naitasiri at Prince Charles Park, Nadi on Friday.

This is due to injuries sustained during their 31-27 bonus point win over Northland last Saturday.

Livewire lock Viliame Ratute and Livai Waqa have been drafted into the first line-up replacing the injured duo.

“Our preparation has been going on as normal but we could not do anything but in bringing the match early in the week due to ground availability,” said team manager Lasaro Rabaka.

“We aim to continue with the turnaround performance against Naitasiri. Our target is for a top four finish. We do respect Naitasiri as they are a champion side but we will carry the underdog tag going into this match.”

Nadi rugby head coach Savenaca Aria has named veteran inside centre Josateki Turuva to lead the side.

Naitasiri are expected to field former Nadi players centre Cyril Reece and lock Jovesa Tanikorolevu.

“It is good to see the development of our players but we cannot control their movement.

“Their going away also gives other players room to prove their worth by stepping into their shoes.”

The clash gets underway at 2pm.
