The Vodafone Fiji FACT has been postponed to next week due to the effects Tropical Cyclone Ella may have on the country.

The Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel in consultation with the Board of Control (B.O.C) have considered the safety of the players due to the bad weather conditions that maybe experienced over the next couple of days.

Competitions manager Amitesh Pal, said the decision to postpone the tournament to next week is out of their hands and something they cannot control.

He said the safety of the teams and players is priority and they cannot control the weather conditions.

“Unfortunately this is something completely out of our control, the weather has been looking unfavourable and we have no choice but to defer the tournament,” Pal said.

“Our first priority is the players and their safety and also the safety of the people who will turn up to watch the tournament.”

Pal said they understand that the postponement of the tournament will affect teams as well.

“We know that moving the match to the following week will affect the teams to some extent,” he said.

“Teams have prepared logistically for the tournament this week and we know this will affect them but we have spoken to them and told them their safety comes first.

“All this is out of our control as I have mentioned, so I hope the teams and the fans will understand, we just want everyone to be safe.”
