Vodafone Fijian 7s captain Osea Kolinisau hopes that people back home will stay safe.

He made the statement as Cyclone Ella approached Fiji.

Speaking from Paris yesterday Kolinisau and his team hopes that all Fijians will be safe from the cyclone.

“Bula Viti, the boys are thinking of all of you as Cyclone Ella approaches our shore, we hope that all of you will be safe,” Kolinisau said.

Head coach Gareth Baber said the boys have been doing well during training this week as they anticipate an exciting final round of the World Rugby Sevens Series this weekend.

Fiji’s pool opener against Samoa is set for 8pm tomorrow followed by Russia at 11.26pm and Australia at 3.14am on Sunday.

“We are working on areas of our game we are trying to develop all the time, such as turnovers, our transition, our attack and defence,” Baber said.

“I’m making sure that we capitalise on that as quick as possible, we are also working on restarts and ensure that we control possession.”

There are three new young players in the squad; Josua Vakurinabili, Samu Bale and Glen Cakautini.

The players are fighting for their spot, Baber said.

“They are working hard to be on that level and I’m impressed with their performance during training here in Paris.”

He also believes Paula Dranisinukula has what it takes to make the final squad for this weekend.

“He is a matured player, I’m impressed with the progress he has made and he’s handling the pressure well, he’s playing well alongside Jasa,” Baber added.
