Akbar Praises Outrigger’s Initiative

The Minister for Health and Medical Services Rosy Akbar has praised Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort for the concept instilled in the newly-opened Outrigger Trader Company boutique shop.
“Investment as such is welcoming to us because it not only creates opportunities for us locals but also encourages local enterprising,” Ms Akbar said as she opened the new concept.
The majority of the items which sold are locally-made with Outrigger’s logo on the packages.
“It doesn’t only benefit the local people but also the guests. More locals will be employed in the chain of business,” she said.
The $106,000 investment already employs three workers.
Spa manager Praveena Dewan said: “The OTC is a unique resort store that provides a curated collection of goods and local products with Outrigger logo and brands.
“We will have an OTC core merchandise line. It will include about a dozen items that all stores in all the properties will have.”
The store is located at the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, Korotogo, reception level and is open from 7am to 9pm daily.
