Organisers of the much-awaited Fiji Performing Rights Association Music Awards are expected to tighten security at the awards this evening.

Event sponsorship and production co-ordinator LaisaVulakoro said they had hired security company, Access United Fiji Limited, after last year’s glitch on the security front.

“We had issues last year where people came from the back during the event and we didn’t have security,” said MsVulakoro.

Rehearsals for the performers and artists have been good since as they prepared for tonight’s big event.

“It’s going to be an exciting night and we urge people to come down.Tickets are still available,” she said.

Ten categories are up for grabs, including Best New Artist, Artist of the Year and Best Composition.

Local artist like Saimoni Vuatalevu, Leba Boi Yawa, and Elena Baravilala amongst others will be performing at the event.

The 2017 FPRA Music Awards will be held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.

Tickets can still be purchased from their head office at 66 McGregor Road, Suva.
