Uro Kadavu Make Nawaka 7s Debut

It was a dream come true for Uro Kadavu rugby 7s team to be able to participate in the Fiji Bitter Nawaka Sevens tournament at Prince Charles Park, Nadi yesterday.
The Vodafone Tiliva Sevens champions were grateful to those that backed them up along the way.
Coach and former Super Rugby centre Sireli Naqelevuki said it was a proud moment for them to participate in the country’s biggest rugby tournament.
“It was always our dream to be part of this tournament because for the past few years we have been hearing about this tournament but had no funding to be part of it,” he said.
“Our team was formed in 2014 and we managed to participate in the Marist Sevens last year.”
Naqelevuki said to be part of the Nawaka Sevens they conducted a number of fundraising drives in Kadavu.
“We want show other people that Kadavu was talented players who could even make it to the national team either in rugby or any other sport.”
The former Vodafone Fijian 7s forward said back on the island, they usually train twice a day.
“We don’t have a proper training facility on the island but we manage to do our training. Our team comprises of farmers, fishermen and carpenters.”
Former national rugby 7s playmaker and team captain, Peni Gaunimeke said they performed well during their pool games and would be out to continue on that form today.
