Just like any other aspiring rugby player in the country, Anare Tevita aims to don the national rugby jumper.

The 22-year-old Wainikeli villager scooped the Best Player award at the 30th Fiji Bitter Nawaka Sevens at Prince Charles Park, Nadi yesterday. Interestingly, he normally plays as a prop but was moved to the wing in the Cup final where he scored two tries in their 15- 0 win over Kombat Uluinakau.

“I acknowledge the Lord for his provisions for the team and we all worked together to win,” he said.

“This is just the beginning as our main theme during our preparation is working together as a team.”

“This is the first time for me to receive the best player award and I cannot describe this feeling.

“There were hardships but when we are on the ground I just told myself to play well.”
