National rep Rudr Prasad, 12, wants to take up chess seriously.

This was after he participated in the Fiji Chess Club tournament yesterday

The Year 8 student of Deenbandhoo Primary School has been involved with sport since he was five years old,

“I was inspired by my father who also plays the game,”Prasad.

“I’ve represented Fiji in the junior category in the Oceania Games and the Wellington Open last year which was a really an eye opening experience for me.

“I won a few local competitions which has really encouraged me to keep doing better and further develop my skills as my aim is to be a grandmaster one day.”

Prasad is grateful to his family for their endless support.
