The Fijian Under-19 Baby Pearls will need to be mentally prepared if they want to make a mark in the Digicel Punjas International Secondary Schools Netball Challenge.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday coach Filomena Korovulavula said they are prioritising on getting the players mentally prepared for the tournament.

“We’re focused right now on the mental toughness of the players as they will be playing against experienced international opponents,” she said.

“This is the first time for the under-19 netball tournament to be hosted in Fiji and the girls are excited to play.

“Our preparations are on track as we have been training for the past two weeks for this tournament.” Korovulavula looks forward to making it through to the final.

“There are fifteen girls participating and of which five are national reps for the under-21 side. We will try our best to make it to the final come this Saturday and concentrate on taking each game as it comes.

“I’m urging all families and supporters of the Fiji under- 19 Baby Pearls team to come out in numbers to support the side tomorrow.”

The Fiji U19 Baby Pearls take on Aotearoa Maori at 10.40am today.
