With the appointment of three more women directors to Group companies, Fijian Holdings Group sets a new benchmark of 31 per cent women participation.

This rate is among the highest for women participation on any corporate boards in Fiji.

Nouzab Fareed, Group chief executive officer of Fijian Holdings Group said:  “Gender diversity is important for good governance and the benefits of mixed gender leadership teams are  well own.”

At the annual general meeting of shareholders in October 2016, it was announced that FHL will recruit more women independent directors to the Group companies.

On Worlds Women’s Day, FHL announced the appointment of nine women directors to the Group companies. With the recent appointment of another three, the total number of women directors in the group has reached 12 out of 39.

Mr Fareed added: “A key contributor to an effective and independent board leadership is diversity of thought, which requires directors of different gender, skills, backgrounds and expertise.”

The GCEO further added that FHL was a keen developer of gender equality and it was something of which they were proud.
