Lautoka secured vital points as they try to get back into the major division in a low scoring 6-0 win over Tavua in their Vodafone Vanua Challenge match at Nadovu Park yesterday.

Two penalties to first five eighth Isireli Satala sealed the win in a start-stop match with a lot of heated encounters among the players.

Tavua’s No.8 Gabirieli Ratu was given his marching orders in the 28th minute for punching and there were also a number of yellow cards shown.

The match officials came under fire from both team coaches after the match.

WHAT HAPPENED: The first half was scrappy with both teams spending more time shaping up to each other or after play scuffles which saw both linesmen step in time and again to consult the referee.

Satala’s two penalties were the only highlights of the first half.

HALFTIME: Lautoka 6-0 Tavua

The second spell was a copybook of the first half with no real exciting moments.

COMMENTS: Lautoka coach Niko Qoro;

“My aim is to take Lautoka back to the major division, that is the task ahead of us.”

Tavua coach Akariva Tabutaci;

“Circumstances beyond our control spoiled the game for us.”

OTHER RESULTS: Nanukuloa 11- 9 Yasawa, Ba 22-6 Ra, Serua 19-13 Tailevu, Cakaudrove 12-16 Nasinu, North Bulls 9-6 Ovalau.
