The Veniona Vuki-captained Malolo side recorded their first victory in the Skipper Cup competition with a 30-10 bonus point victory over Macuata  at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.

The hosts scored four tries to one in a one-sided affair.

What happened: Seven minutes into the game Malolo fullback Timoci Tavuto kicked a penalty, 3-0.

Malolo was sharp on attack and in the 20th minute Lemeki Nabalei scored their first try, 8-0.

In the 29th minute  Macuata fullback Emosi Tudravu kicked a drop goal, 8-3.

In the 31st minute Tavuto kicked another penalty, 11-3.

In the 40th minute Turukawa Epeli scored Malolo’s second try.

Halftime: 16-3.

Malolo up the momentum and in the 45th minute Timoci Davu scored another try for the Cloud Nine-sponsored side which was converted by Tavuto, 23-3.

Macuata’s first try came from Mosese Sela in the 58th minute which was converted by  Tudravu, 23-10.

In the 64th minute Turukawa scored his second which was converted by Tavuto, 30-10.

Comments: Malolo coach Mosese Volavola said; “ Discipline was the main issue in the last two games and we worked hard to improve on it and I’m happy. The team now looks forward to playing Nadi.”

Macuata coach Milio Toganivalu said; “We need to work on our defence before the next game.”
