Vodafone Fijian FACT defending champions Jack’s Nadi booked a semifinal spot after defeating Dreketi 3-1 at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday.

What happened: Nadi kicked off with a goal from Elvin Prasad to give the Jetsetters a 1-0 lead. Dreketi did their best to hold their ground and kept Nadi at bay.

An attempt at goal by Waisake Tabucava to extend Nadi’s lead was futile as it went wide.

Dreketi’s goalkeeper Waisake Ravuiwasa worked extra hard making some good saves.

Halftime: Nadi 1-0 Dreketi

Dreketi came back stronger and applied pressure but Nadi played smart in defence.

Substitute Rusiate Matarerega’s made his mark scoring their second goal. Dreketi had opportunities to score but attempts at goal were poor.

Nadi’s hard work paid off when William Valentine rifled in the third goal.

Nadi goalkeeper Samuela Tamanisau received a red card and Dreketi’s Henry Dyer scored their first goal of the tournament to end the game at 3-1.

Big play: Nadi’s set pieces were spot on.

Star turn: Vereti Dickson made some good saves to keep Dreketi scoreless until the final 10 minutes.

Comments:

Dreketi coach Johan Leewai: “The boys really struggled against a good team like Nadi. There were a few harsh calls but I think the players did well.

“They played the game and we managed to get a goal so we are happy.”

Nadi coach Babs Khan: “We could have done better and scored more. We need to go back to the drawing board before our last game again Labasa at 2.30pm tomorrow.”
