Competition is getting tough in the Suva Rugby Union weekly competition, says Paula Raqeukai.

The SRU secretary made the comment after the third round of the Escott Shield and the fourth round of the Koroturaga Championship on Saturday.

“Intensity is building every week,”Raqeukai said.

“We need to have a solid and competitive club games to have a good team in the Skipper Cup competition both in the senior and Under -20 grades.

“At the same time those in the second grade vying to move up to the Premier grade. The best two teams from the Koroturaga competition will automatically qualify for the Escott Shield competition next year.”

Raqeukai commented on the performance and commitment by the top teams.

“Army, Navy and Police are actually doing well in the Premier grade.

“The community based teams like Raiwaqa, Nabua and Lomaiviti are preparing well to be in the top 8 to play in the quarterfinals of the Escott Shield,” he added.

“The Escott Shield and Koroturaga Championship finals are scheduled for July.”

Koroturaga Championship

Toorak Blues 13 – 12 Covernant Reds, Raiwaqa Red 5 – 3 Namuka-I-Lau, Harlequins 6 – 0 RKSOB, Harvest Breakthrough 7 – 17 Delainavesi, Concrete Qauia Green 7 – 11 West Coast Grammar, Suvavou 12 – 13 USP

Police White (LBD) – (WBD) PORTS.
