Bus Operators election results

The Fiji Bus Operators Association (FBOA) had appointed Richard Lal of PA Lal Holdings to be its President.
Mr Lal’s new role is a boost for the Fiji Bus Operators Association, especially with the introduction of electronic ticketing.
Mr Lal has been part of the Executive Committee since 2000.
He was the FBOA Vice president for the past four years.
Meanwhile, Rohit Latchan was reappointed as General Secretary for his ninth year.
Majority of the office bearers and executive committee were returned unopposed to represent Fiji’s bus industry.
Nisar Ali Shah of KBL Buses Limited for the Vice President position and defeated Jasper Singh of Shore Buses Limited with majority votes.
The elections was conducted through secret ballot and independent scrutinises.
Mr Shah, who was previously the Treasurer, joins Pyara Singh of Lautoka General Transport Limited, who remains the senior Vice President.
The incumbent Assistant Secretary, Dhirendra Singh of Taunovo Buses Limited, was elected Treasurer.
Abdul Wahab of Sunbeam Transport Limited was returned as Assistant Secretary, while Edwin Chand of Parmod Enterprises Limited is the newly elected second Assistant Secretary.
Arun Lal also returned as Assistant Treasurer, while Executive Committee member, Ritesh Nair of Nairs Transport Limited, was promoted to the role of second Assistant Treasurer.
The election of new members sees the FBOA’s executive leadership take on a better geographical representation of members with committee members from around Fiji.
The FBOA’s annual convention brings together representatives of Fiji’s 54 bus operators with the Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General opening the event, which bore the theme ‘Electronic ticketing: dawn of a new era’.
