Surfers Che Slatter and Lesi Ravuwai represented Fiji at the opening of the ISA World Surfing Games in Biarritz, France yesterday.

This was the first time for Fijian surfers to participate in this world event as part of their build-up to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Fiji Surfing head coach Ian Portingale told SUNsports that they would start surfing from today.

“Che is is heat 22 while Lesi is in heat 36,” Portingale said.

According to the Fiji Surfing Association, there was a huge roar from the crowd when our surfers took centre stage and shouted a big ‘bula’ as soon as they were introduced.
