Makario’s Rugby Club’s campaign in the Macuata Rugby Union club competition received a major boost last Saturday. This was after the team received their new set of jersey from Evangel Temple.

After receiving their new jerseys, Makario’s team captain Inoke Turale thanked the church for supporting them.

“Some of the players attend the Evangel Temple’s Assemblies of God Church at Naodamu in Labasa,” Turale said.

“This is a huge boost for us and we can say we’re so blessed. It is very hard to find sponsorships these days but we’re thankful to the officials who have come in to assist us.”

Turale recalled the club’s humble beginning.

“We started a few weeks ago and we went around looking for jerseys but then we managed to buy something. The club is based in Naodamu Housing and have also participated in other local tournaments as well.

Makario’s coach and Evangel Temple church member Isoa Rokobici said the cost of their new set of jerseys was around $1000.

“This is a fantastic moment for us; these boys usually help out in our church farm and to sponsor them is such a privilege for us,” Rokobici added.
