Naitasiri Rugby appeals winger’s suspension

The Naitasiri rugby team are looking forward to an exciting fourth round of the Skipper Cup battle when they face defending champions BLK Nadroga this weekend at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.

Naitasiri head coach Koli Sewabu said yesterday that they respect Nadroga as they are the champions of Fijian rugby.

“Nothing changes in terms of our preparations this week,” he said.

“It’s quite an exciting week for us knowing that we are playing against the champions of Fijian rugby.

“Just to rub shoulders with them and learn a thing or two will be beneficial for our young players,”

The former Flying Fijian No.8 believes discipline is one area they will need to improve on following their performance last Saturday where they played with 14-men. This was after winger Tomasi Cama Ratu was red-carded for dangerous play.

“This is one area I believe we need to work on. Last week we played with 14 men; we cannot afford to repeat that this week.

“We will maintain the same team from last week not much changes,” he added.

Ratu is currently banned for three weeks but the NRU have appealed the decision dished out by the Fiji Rugby Union.

“We’re waiting for the final decision from FRU who will do a review on the video footage and will make their decision later,” he said.

“That’s not a problem for us we have a good replacement for our winger.”

The Highlanders are currently undefeated and are leading the Skipper Cup table with 15 points, Namosi are in second place with 10 while Nadroga sit in third place with nine.

Other matches this weekend: Subrail Park, Labasa, Namosi v Macuata; Prince Charles Park, Nadi, Malolo v Nadi; Gatward Park, Korovou, Northland v Suva.
