Our opponents have mastered our weakness: Matawalu

The Nadroga rugby team have gone to the sand dunes to prepare for their clash against the unbeaten Naitasiri side in this weekend’s Skipper Cup showdown at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.

Nadroga Rugby Union president Tiko Matawalu told SUNsports yesterday that they’re under a lot of pressure after their opponents have mastered their weak areas.

“We’re very much aware of Naitasiri and the strengths they do have looking back at the three rounds of competition,” he said.

“I believe they’ve seen more weakness in our make-up as a team in which they can capitalise on. Whereas for us we’ve seen lesser mistakes in them and that has made our preparation much harder.”

The Stallion escaped with a close 17-13 win over Northland at Gatward Park, Korovou, last Saturday.

Nadroga technical adviser Franck Boivert said they had lost control of the ball and allowed their opponents back into the game.

“Naitasiri has beaten Nadi on their home ground last Saturday and it reveals a lot of message to all teams participating in the Skipper Cup.

“Preparations are going on and now it’s on the boys on the day of the game where they need to concentrate on the task that is at hand,” Matawalu said.

The former Flying Fijian prop said they are going to make changes in their line-up as well.

“We have started our selection and there should be some changes.”

He has called on their fans to be at Lawaqa Park to cheer them on

“We are requesting everyone to come and watch because this going to be the game of the season,” Matawalu added.
