Market Vendor Gets Support From Wife

Parveen Narayan of Tuirara settlement in Davuilevu Housing is a successful market vendor at the Nakasi Market and he attributes the success to his wife Aruna Narayan.

He starts at the market at 6.30am and is always accompanied his wife to buy from farmers and set up the tables.

Apart from her usual home chores – cooking, ironing clothes, cleaning the house etc, he said she would always be supportive to his selling at the market.

According to Mr Narayan his wife makes things easier for him at the market.

He has been a market for four years and he admitted that he had some customers and was winning more.

When asked on how he had attracted more new customers he said

He said knowing and understanding customer needs was what the base of his market business.

“I buy from the farmers on what my customers wanted,” he said.

He said his customers usually persuaded their friends to buy from is table and was always ready to serve them.

According to Mr Narayan the price of vegetables are going down.

“Three months ago, vegetable price were quite high.”

He said he was getting vegetables for a lower price and this had resulted in the decrease in his selling price as well.
