Sigatoka Special School yesterday received a major boost from Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort.

The coral coast property handed a cheque worth $15,666.30 to the management of the school yesterday.

This was part of the fund that was raised by the 2017 Outrigger Walk for Kids that was held on April 8.

In accepting the cheque, Special School Board member, Coral Kennedy thanked the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort for its commitment to the community and acknowledged that the contribution takes them a step closer to their aim of reaching out to the interior of Nadroga Navosa.

“This is the third year the Outrigger Walk for Kids has been held and over the years the event has been able to contribute positively towards the enhancement of facilities at the Sigatoka Special School,” she said.

She said the funds raised from the 2017 walkathon will be used to buy a vehicle that the school will use for its outreach programme in the Nadroga, Navosa province.

Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort general manager Peter Hopgood commended his hard working sales and reservations team for their efforts and expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their continued support.

“The Outrigger Walk for Kids is an annual event and aims to create awareness and acceptance of the needs that our children with special needs require,” Mr Hopgood said.
