Ruling Yet To Be Made On Change Of Judge Move

The High Court in Suva has yet to make a ruling on a motion in Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption’s case against former Public Works Department (PWD) employees.

All accused personnel appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe at the High Court yesterday.

Justice Rajasinghe adjourned the cases until next month to make a ruling on the defence counsel’s submissions to have the matter heard before another Judge.

All three cases will be called on June 26 for mention.

 

The charges:

First Case: Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) vs. Ana Laqere, Vaciseva Lagai, Laisa Halafi, Amelia Vunisea, Abdul Shariff and RajneilWati.

Shariff and Wati are each charged with one count of obtaining financial advantage between January 1 and March 31, 2010 while being directors of Mass Stationery Supplies Limited respectively, engaged in a conduct namely caused payments amounting to $10,557.50 to be made to the said company and as a result of that conduct, obtained a financial advantage from PWD.

 

Second Case: FICAC vs. Ana Laqere, Amelia Vunisea, Vaciseva Lagai, Vilisi Tuitavuki, TavenisaTavaga, Kiniviliame Taviraki and Shalendra Kumar

Kumar is charged with one count of obtaining financial advantage between January 1 and May 31, 2010 while being the director of Professional Stationeries engaged in conduct namely caused payments amounting to $34,236.77 to be made to the said company and as the result of the conduct obtained financial advantage from PWD.

 

Third case: FICAC vs. Ana Laqere, Amelia Vunisea, Vaciseva Laqai, Vilisi Tuitavuki, Laisa Halafi, Tavenisa Tavaga, Kiniviliame Taviraki, Salesh Bikash and Roshni Lata
