The top 12 winning Colgate ‘My Bright Smile Global Art’ contest have been chosen, which will be sent for regional judging in Sydney, Australia.

The winning art works were picked from the top 40 finalists from the age group of six to nine years; entries were from primary schools in Fiji, Samoa and Tonga.

The top three were chosen from each category. The top 12 winners via regional judging will be chosen and sent to New York, USA, for global judging. The final global winners will be announced in August.

Colgate Palmolive’s Fiji professional relations and community programmes co-ordinator, Dr Naina Kau, said most entries from Fiji came from children outside of Suva and the winners were mostly from the Northern Division.

“Participation in rural schools is amazing so the response has been great,” Dr Kau said.

Colgate Palmolive Fiji has been part of the global art contest for seven years now and received over 1500 entries from across the region.

Seven judges from organisations like the School of Oral Health at the Fiji National University, Fiji Arts Council, and Ministry of Education judged the final top artworks.

The entries were judged on originality, creativity, and best rendering on the theme ‘Why My Bright Smile is Important’.

The 2017 Bright Smile, Bright Futures winning entry will also feature in the 2018 My Bright Smile Calendar.

Judging of the artworks were held yesterday at the Colgate-Palmolive Fiji Headquarters in Wailekutu, Lami, yesterday.
