Number two seed Mulan Kamoe will play Steffie Carruthers in the final of the Open Ladies Singles of the 110th Fiji Tattslotto Fiji Open Championship at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club today.

This was after Kamoe beat-Georgemiah Row 6-3, 6-2 while Samoan No.1 Carruthers beat Saoirse Breen 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinal yesterday.

In the Open men’s Single, Tahiti’s Gilles De Gouy will play Solomon Islands’ Junior Benjamin in the final.

De Gouy proved too strong for Matarao Fanguna winning 6-0, 7-5 while Junior Benjamin beat Larry Magalasin 6-2, 6-2.

Secretary/development officer of Tennis Fiji Sachin Reddy applauded the performance of the local players.

“The performance of our local players has been very good,”Reddy said.

“This tournament is a build-up for our squad who are preparing  to make the team to the Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu.

“Players are playing to their level best and doing well. I think with this kind of competition we will expect the team to do much better in Vanuatu.

“We have a few locals who have reached the finals and semifinals which is a big plus for the side.

“This will help us gauge them and see who we select according to their performance in the Fiji Open,” he said.
