The best male cadet at the All Saints Secondary School passing-out parade dedicated his win to his parents in Naitasiri.

Nemani Beitaki, the soft, but well-spoken Nadakuni lad from the Highlands in Viti Levu said he was honoured to have been awarded the special award.

“I came to Labasa last year for academic purposes and I am glad that this is working out well,” Mr Beitaki said.

“I first and foremost would like to thank God for giving me courage and the confidence to be able to achieve this award.

“I also dedicate this to my relatives here in Labasa, and my parents back in the village, who without their prayers and support, I would not been able to have achieved this award.”

He said while the weeks of training were tough, the principles learned would be engraved in their hearts so they could become productive and law-abiding citizens of the country.

Mr Beitaki stays with relatives in Tuatua, Labasa.

Meanwhile, the best female cadet was awarded to Paulini Rosi, a Qamea Island native in Cakaudrove.\
