Our 2 Shine In France

Our two surfers representing at the ISA World Open titles have done us proud. In testing small soft surf conditions both Che and Lesi tried several surfboard changes and strategy changes to improve their results.
By all reports I have read the world surfing community are now fully aware of Fiji as a country of surfers not just rugby. Our waves are world class and travelling surfers are regular visitors of what surf we have to offer. Now an even broader surfing community have been alerted to Fiji and that there are some highly skilled surfers living here to guide them around.
A special thank you to the Fiji National Sports Commission for their support in getting our team to France and to Cloudbreak clothing for the awesome uniforms. Your support has been greatly appreciated.
TODAY’S CLOUDBREAK
The world women’s championship tour kicks-off today at Cloudbreak. The event has a 10-day window and requires only 5 of those to complete the event. This allows them to wait for both the conditions and the size of the surf to be at their best.
At the completion of the women event the men’s tour will start their waiting period to once again ensure the best conditions. You can tune into the WSL live broadcast or catch one of the spectator boats like Fiji Surf Co or Rendezvous boat. Check them out for details and come and take a look at world class surfing.
OPENING CEREMONY
Our Fiji Junior surfing squad surfers were invited out to view the opening ceremony yesterday. Api Camoro, Kalani Wakeham, John Vasea and Ulai Tukana along with Kiesha and Kayla Wakeham were given the opportunity to get up close with the world class surfers and learn from them.
The team of three surfers will represent Fiji in September at the ISA World Junior surfing titles in Japan. Special thanks to Uri Kurop for providing the transport out to Tavarua for allowing the squad to access the ceremony.
