I’m Like A Hungry Lion: Singh Tells Farzan

World Boxing Foundation Asia Pacific super lightweight champion Sebastian ‘Sniper’ Singh has signed the dotted line to face Fiji welterweight champion Junior ‘The Razor’ Farzan Ali on June 30.

The country’s best pound-to-pound boxers will battle it out under the Canada Fiji Southern Boxing Promotions banner at Prince Charles Park, Nadi. The co-promoters are Naushad ‘Simon’ Buksh and Mohammed Shameen.

Speaking to SUNsports, Singh said he has been waiting for the past two years for this fight to eventuate.

“I’m like a hungry lion,” he said.

“I’ve waited for two years. This programme is awesome and the package is the best especially for this generation.

“I thank the promoters and I guess all the boxers will be happy but at the end of the day it is the sport that should win.”

Buksh said majority of the boxers have signed their contracts.

“It’s a sort of partnership where we are able to unearth more great boxers.

“There are more boxers in Fiji and this programme is all about the sport and not for money.

“We have signed up Singh as well and we’re all ready for the fight, having these two boxers in the programme is part of the wholesome vibe for the night,” he said.

“To the boxing fans there will be interesting unisex bouts and not only for men. This is a big event and four women will be part of it.

“We have signed them up. We’ve offered good pay packets.”

The main fights are- Main bout (10x3min): Junior Farzan Ali v Sebastian Singh, Main supporting bout (8×3 min) Savenaca Naliva v Joseph Kwadjo, Opeti Tagi v Abhay Chand.
