Suva defender Epeli Lairoti and Rewa utility Samuela Kautoga are the latest inclusion in the Vodafone Fiji national football team in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qualification-OFC Stage 3 fixture against New Caledonia.

Coach Christhope Gamel has dropped Suva marksman Ravinesh Karan Singh, Nadi striker Napolinio Qasevakatini and Navua duo Zane Lingham and Rajanesh Raju while Alfraz Ali has personnel commitment.

Gamel said he had an extended squad and players who did not fit in his system were sent home.

“I want to see spirit in players for the national team and if I see they not enough I drop them and it’s logical,” Gamel said.

Gamel said he wanted players who had Fiji at heart and played for the pride.

“The players are selected to come in the camp and not that they wanted to come and if they don’t want to show their best they can go,” Gamel said.

He said the door was still open for selection and would look for potential but he respected the young squad he had at the moment.

“I think I have a good team now and will have to do some work to make them the best.”

The Vodafone Fiji national side will play New Caledonia in a two match series in the FIFA World Cup-OFC Stage 3 Rounds next Wednesday at 4pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka and the return leg in New Caledonia on Sunday 11.
