Supermarket Burglary Case Goes Back To Nausori Magistrates Court

A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officer and two other men, who are charged in relation to the Lokia Food City Supermarket burglary, had their case remitted back to the Nausori Magistrates Court yesterday.

State lawyer Unaisi Tamanikaiyaroi had made the application to remit the matter back to Nausori Magistrates Court as the amount involved could be tried in a Magistrates Court.

Sergeant Amani Boseinawai, Meli Galu and Mausio Susau Dominiko appeared before Justice Thusara Rajasinghe at the High Court in Suva.

Boseinawai, Galu and Dominiko are charged with a count each of conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary and receiving stolen property.

It is alleged that on February 26, all the three conspired to commit aggravated burglary at the Lokia Food City Supermarket in Nausori.

It is also alleged that on February 27, the three accused received stolen cash valued at $2500.

Galu and Dominiko are further charged with one count each of aggravated burglary and theft.

It is alleged that on February 26, they stole cash valued at $117,630.25 and assorted cigarettes to a total value of $23,446.80, the property of Lokia Food City Supermarket.

The case has been adjourned to June 23, for mention.
