Fast food giant McDonald’s in Suva central opened again for business yesterday afternoon following assurance from Government concerning the asbestos contamination at the Suva Civic Centre building.

McDonald’s Suva branch manager Vani Soko said following the announcement of the asbestos contamination at the Civic Centre complex by the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations they had to consider the health of their workers and closed operations in the morning.

“Until we get clearance from the ministry, if it’s safe to work then well commence business,” she said.

“All workers would be compensated during their work hours and moved to the Laucala Bay branch.”
