The Namara Village Solar Mini Project worth over $3 million in Kadavu is expected to benefit more than 200 people.
Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure and Transport Parveen Bala said the project was the first co-financed solar project that was installed with the Energy Saving System.
The system is expected to ensure that enough power is stored to provide a 24-hour service and will have the potential to create new opportunities for the people of Namara especially the school children.
