The Namara Village Solar Mini Project worth over $3 million in Kadavu is expected to benefit more than 200 people.

Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure and Transport Parveen Bala said the project was the first co-financed solar project that was installed with the Energy Saving System.

The system is expected to ensure that enough power is stored to provide a 24-hour service and will have the potential to create new opportunities for the people of Namara especially the school children.

This project is the first ever by the Republic of Korea through the Korean Institute of Energy, Technology, Evaluation and Planning.
