Vodafone Flying Fijians head coach John McKee believes in developing young players for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

The team departed yesterday for their test match against the Wallabies this Saturday in Melbourne.

McKee has included former national Under-20 and current Taranaki Academy prop Asaeli Sorovaki.

He will join the team in Melbourne together with Albert Vulivuli and Ben Volavola.

“Sorovaki is a player for the future and it’s important we include and expose him early.

“The sooner I get these young players know and learn the Flying Fijians team culture, the better it is for us in the long run,” McKee said.

He is happy with the players’ commitment during their three-day camp.

“I’m very pleased and the players worked really hard in training.

“We also had intensity training so that players get used to the high tempo match against Wallabies.

“The important thing is to make sure we focus on things we need to do well.”
