The contestants of the Vodafone Millennium Sinu Festival were hosted by the Wakanisila Methodist Church yesterday.

Wakanisila Methodist Church steward Metuisela Kauyaca said the church was happy to welcome the contestants which was a first for them as a church.

He said the contestants were from the different denominations and the church members appreciated their presence.

Miss Reddy Dimond Group contestant Shaista Ali said she felt at home as they were welcomed by the church members.

Ms Ali said it was her first time to attend a Christian church service and it was overwhelming.

She said being a Muslim girl it was not about the church she belonged to, it was about belief in one God.

“Whatever denominations we belong to, we are all serving a God,” she said.

Ms Ali has also invited the Nasinu, Valelevu, Suva and Nausori communities to support them this week during the carnival.

She is an undergraduate student at the Fiji National University doing a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in marketing and management.

Vodafone Millennium Sinu Festival treasurer, Esita Nawani said they requested the Wakanisila Church to host them.

The service was a welcome of a new month service (Vulavou).

Ms Nawani said they were blessed to be part of the church service and it was also the Pentecost Sunday and the contestants enjoyed the experience.
