Woman, 35, Remanded

The Suva Magistrates Court refused bail to a 35-year-old woman charged with one count each of obtaining financial advantage by deception and dishonestly causing a loss.
Magistrate Deepika Prakash yesterday remanded accused Milika Naikidi.
Defence lawyer Tirath Sharma applied for bail. However, Police prosecutor Constable Volau Yalimaiwai objected to the bail application.
The grounds for objection were that the case was of public interest, similar offences allegedly committed by Nakidi are yet to be investigated by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) and the alleged amount has not been recovered.
It is alleged that between December 24, 2013 and November 6, 2015, Naikidi dishonestly obtained $42,680 from Semesa Matanawa.
It is further alleged that Naikidi dishonestly caused a loss of $42,680 to 786 Supermarket.
The case has been adjourned to June 15, for mention.
