Keeping our environment clean is everyone’s responsibility, says Tanoa Waterfront Hotel general manager Narend Kumar.

To mark the World Ocean Day, the staff members of Tanoa Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka, cleaned the frontage of their hotel, which is the foreshore.

“There are some irresponsible people who cannot throw their rubbish into the rubbish bins despite rubbish bins being available around us.

“We must have pride in keeping our environment clean all the time,” he said.

Mr Kumar said: “This is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and we do this clean up every quarter.”

“Today is World Oceans Day and we thought of cleaning the frontage of the Tanoa Water Front Hotel.”

He said they filled 20 garbage bags of empty bottles and other rubbish, which could harm their marine environment and there were lots of people who still throw rubbish at the foreshore.

“There are so many talks about climate change and environmental issues, and people still throw rubbish wherever they want to.

“We will continue with this initiative to keep our environment clean,” he said.
