The Australian High Commission through their Direct Aid Programme (DAP) donated $17,500 worth of learning resources to the Nausori Special School this week.

Head teacher Salesh Deo said the resources included $4000 library books, desks, chairs and cupboards costing $6000 and a $7500 photocopier.

“The donation has provided more resources  for  our children. It has added extra fuel to support teachers in their work,” Mr Deo said.

“The excitement of receiving new things regardless of the size brings happiness in everyone’s lives similarly your generosity in providing these teaching and learning materials have enlightened the lives of our children.”

He added the new furniture has made the students more responsible, taking ownership and caring for their desks and chairs.

“Likewise for the teachers,” he said, “the cupboards have provided for safe storing of children’s work and resources.

These modern resources have had a positive impact on the teaching and learning process. He said the resources would be used by 61 pupils from Year 1 to 5. He extended his heartfelt appreciation and acknowledgement to the Australian High Commission for making the difference in the lives of their children.

The learning resources were handed over by Mark Tamsitt, the Third Secretary Political at the Australian High Commission.
