Internationally acclaimed New Zealand actor Temuera Morrison will be the special guest and main speaker at the Viti Spinal Injuries Association of Fiji (VSIAF) Old Skool Ball that will be held at the Grand Pacific Hotel on Saturday July 22nd.

Morrison – the star of Once Were Warriors, Shortland Street, Star Wars-Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and the voice of Chief Tui, the father of the title character in Disney’s Moana is currently filming two movies in Australia, including Aquaman.

He has organised his filming schedule to allow him to headline the Viti Spinal Injuries Association Gala Ball – and is providing his time and support free of charge.

“I am pleased and honoured to be part of this event to highlight and encourage support for people in Fiji living with spinal injuries,” Mr Morrison said.

“I am keen to raise awareness and raise funds that will go towards the work of the VSIAF in, among other things, building and restoring the homes and services of severely disabled people living in their own homes and villages,” he said.

VSIAF President Paul McGoon expressed his appreciation for Morrison’s support and called on corporate bodies and entities in Fiji to support this very important event.

The event will feature amazing auction prizes including travel, holidays, restaurants, and sports memorabilia including an All Blacks jersey signed and donated by Richie McCaw, and other memorabilia from Eric Rush and other sporting legends.

“With people of this calibre supporting us, we owe it to them and to people living with spinal injuries to make sure this night is well attended and well supported,” McGoon said.

Also featuring on the night will be spectacular entertainment coordinated by Igelese Ete with the Pasifika Voices choir who will sing songs from Moana.

Sponsors for the event to date include Fiji Airways, Grand Pacific Hotel, Return to Paradise Resort in Samoa and Castaway Island Resort.
