The Vodafone Flying Fijians are confident of taking out Italy in their Test clash at the ANZ Stadium, Suva on Saturday.

Arriving at Nadi International Airport, last night, Flying Fijians head coach John McKee said they are going to work on certain areas in the next few days before they face Italy.

“We need to work on our defence, be more clinical and to have a better shape in our attack,” he said.

McKee indicated that he would discuss with his coaching staff on what is needed to be done before they start their preparations.

“I was also pleased with our impact players as they were able to lift the game.”

Debutant tight head prop Kalivati Tawake was impressive in the scrums as he was able to hold his own against the Wallabies.

Tawake who plays for Army Green said, this was his first Test match for the Flying Fijians and now knows what it’s like to play in that level of competition.

“We’ve learnt our mistakes before facing Italy. My aim is to be in the Flying Fijians squad and be part of the core team in the future,” he said.

Tawake hails from Nacula in Yasawa and has maternal links to Nawaikawa in Gau.

France based- centre Jale Vatubua said it was his first outing and was still adapting to the new combinations in the team.

“We should keep moving forward as we have Italy next and also Scotland. We’ve two important games between Tonga and Samoa.”

Rio Olympic gold medallist and Edinburgh forward Viliame Mata said he had a good game despite coming in as an impact player.

“I’m now looking forward to the next game against Italy,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Italy rugby team arrive into the country tonight
